Immerse yourself in the intrigue and deception of Coup, where you become the head of a powerful family in an Italian city-state ruled by a corrupt court. Manipulate, bluff, and bribe to gain power, with the ultimate goal of crushing the influence of rival families and sending them into exile. In this intense battle of wits, only one family will prevail. Gameplay and Characters: Each player starts with two coins and two influence (face-down character cards). The deck contains fifteen cards, featuring five unique characters, each with their own special powers: Duke: Take three coins, or block foreign aid. Assassin: Pay three coins to assassinate a rival character. Contessa: Protect yourself from assassination attempts. Captain: Steal coins or block others from stealing yours. Ambassador: Exchange character cards and block theft. You may take any character's action, regardless of your own cards. Alternatively, choose one of three other actions: Income: Take one coin. Foreign aid: Take two coins. Coup: Pay seven coins to launch a coup against an opponent, forcing them to lose an influence. Character actions succeed unless challenged by an opponent. If challenged and unable to reveal the character, you lose an influence. If you reveal the character, the challenger loses an influence, and you draw a new card. Optional Inquisitor Character: Replace the Ambassador with the Inquisitor to add a new dimension to your game. The Inquisitor can exchange character cards, force opponents to reveal a card, and block theft. Victory: The last player with a face-down character card wins the game.
